When Aleece and I first met each other we were both already convinced that God was calling us to serve Him in cross-cultural missions. In bringing us together our interests and burdens merged into a specific calling to teach the Word of God and help build up the Church in Latin America. When we heard about the exciting things God is already doing in Peru we knew it was the place for us.
There are so many people groups around the world that are unreached, never having heard the Gospel in their own language. Unfortunately, 5 out of 6 of those unreached groups are in limited access countries which are closed to Western missionaries and Western ideas (see joshuaproject.net). To meet this need God seems to be raising up new centers of Gospel outreach in places like Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Missionaries from these regions are often closer culturally to those unreached people groups and are being received as messengers bringing news of God's saving grace.
God has specifically been using the church plants and contacts associated with the ABWE Peru Field Team to send Peruvian missionaries to over 20 different countries! It is their prayer that Peru will be a world epi-center of Gospel missions by 2050. The current need is trained leaders and missions to sustain and grow this missions movement. God has called the Coopers to help meet this need by building up the church through outreach ministries like crisis pregnancy centers and through Biblical training at the college and seminary level. The goal is to support the work already being done so that the name of Christ might be praised as Saviour in every language on earth.
